Here are a few of our favourites:

Playa de Villananitos - Lo Pagan
Lo Pagan has a beautiful beach, promenade and small marina.

Lo Pagan is most famous for its mud baths. These are free and all ages can use them. The mud baths are located at the end of the beach and the start of the Salinas walking and cycling route out to sea (rent an e-bike). Simply walk down the steps, cover yourself with the therapeutic mud, said to be good for all types of skin complaints, aches and pain, dry off in the sun, then re-enter the water to wash it all off!

Cala Cortina – Cartagena

Cala_Cortina.jpg

This is a stunning little horseshoe-shaped cove that gets busy with the locals at the height of the summer. The sandy beach sits amidst rocks, which makes it a great area for snorkeling. To access the beach, you pass through a tunnel at the Puerto de Santa Lucía. The beach restaurant Mares Bravas is a traditional house and has stood here at the bay since the 1960s. It serves excellent paella and seafood dishes.

There are two large free parking spaces above the bay. It can get really crowded on weekends. When the first parking lot is full, you can try the one on the other side near the road crossing.

Access: From the first parking lot you access the beach via steep steps. The second parking lot is lower and you walk along a sandy path under the road to the bay.
